(SAN FRANCISCO, CA- October 25, 2018) – The Worldwide Broker Network™ (WBN), the world’s largest fully integrated international network of independent property & casualty and employee benefits brokers, held its 59th Global Conference October 10-13, 2018 in Cartagena, Colombia.

Partnering with Member Host Correcol, the 2018 Global Conference included over 200 brokers, carrier sponsors, clients, and thought-leaders from more than 50 countries for discussions on international insurance programs, technical workshops, the sharing of experiences and business collaboration. The conference opened with a speech by Juan Carlos Pinzón, former Colombian minister of defense, and former ambassador to the U.S. The Cartagena conference featured sessions on innovation to outpace risk, disruptors in the insurance segment, Lloyd’s City Risk Index and Brexit updates, the first release of the CNA Hardy Risk survey results, an insuretech presentation, and multi-industry client panels that addressed a wide variety of current and emerging topics and trends.

“Cartagena was chosen as the site for this WBN conference, because of its historical connection to international commerce” said Enrique Acevedo, member host Correcol’s general manager. “It was the principal trade port of the Spanish empire going back to the 1500s, and that tradition inspired the conference’s exploration of cross-border economic opportunities. We were delighted to welcome our colleagues from across the globe to Colombia, including fellow brokers and carriers. Clients from leading industries in Latin America shared their perspectives on risk management, increased regulatory compliance, and sustaining growth in emerging markets.”

Francie Starnes, CEO of WBN, noted “The Cartagena conference highlighted the high degree of expertise and the shared business goals that exist between our members that has made us the fourth-largest broker network in the world. The conference in Colombia this month reflected the deep and thoughtful support of Correcol, an active member of the WBN network.
